Gambia’s Information Minister Defects!

Sheriff_Bojang-1080x670Gambia’s Information Minister Sheriff Bojang, has defected from the regime of dictator Yahya Jammeh, unimpeachable sources have told the Freedom Newspaper. Mr. Bojang arrived in the Senegalese capital Dakar, few days ago. He is on the run after he decided to part company with Gambia’s defiant dictator Yahya Jammeh. Mr. Bojang is yet to issue an official statement to announce his defection. He fled The Gambia, about a day or so ago, The Ministry of Information is currently vacant, as the Minister in charge is one the run.

Minister-BojangSheriff Bojang is a journalist by profession. He is the owner of the Banjul based Standard Newspaper. He was later appointed by dictator Jammeh to serve as his Information and Communication Minister.

While in Jammeh’s cabinet, Bojang, has proven to be a loyal supporter and enabler of Africa’s worst dictator. He often appears on GRTS to read messages on behalf government. His last TV appearance had to do with Gambia’s withdrawal from the International Criminal Court (ICC). He branded the court as a biased Caucasian Court, targeting African leaders.

A credible source, who reached us said he met Mr. Bojang in Dakar last night. The Minister, has no intention of returning to The Gambia, while dictator Yahya Jammeh is in power, our source said.
Mr. Bojang’s defection, followed the sacking of Sulayman Samba, Gambia’s Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service. Sources said Mr. Samba had taken part in a Cabinet meeting, in which it was unanimously agreed among Ministers that Jammeh should consider leaving office. The Ministers later back down from the original agreement, and threw Samba under bus. Hence, he was axed by the Kanilai monster.

Mr. Sheriff Bojang is expected to issue a statement in coming hours to officially announce his defection from the Jammeh regime, sources close to the former Minister said. He wouldn’t respond to Freedom Newspaper media queries about his defection despite numerous attempts to solicit reaction from him.
