Executive-Legislature Holds Retreat Thursday

The Executive through its Cabinet and Honorable Members of the National Legislature today, December 8, 2016 held a retreat in the Joint Chambers of the Capitol Building in Monrovia.

According to an Executive Mansion release, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is expected to deliver the opening remarks while House Speaker, J. Emmanuel Nuquay performed the welcome ceremony.

The retreat, which is the first of its kind seeks to enable Members of the National Legislature appreciate the execution of our national priorities amid complex impacting global dynamics as well as provide an opportunity for the Executive and Legislature dialogue on common issues of national interest as the administration speeds up to leave a lasting legacy.

Lead presenters during Thursday’s retreat will include the Minister of Finance and Development Planning; Bioma Kamara, Central Bank Governor; Milton Weeks, the Agriculture and Manufacturing Sector will be presided over by Dr. Moses Zinnah and Commerce Minister Axel Addy. The Security Sector will be led by Justice Minister – Frederick Cherue, Infrastructure Development – Minister Gyude Moore; Hon. Patrick Sendolo will make a presentation on the Energy sector, Minister Bernice Dahn – Health, Education – Minister George Werner, Gender – Minister Julia Duncan-Cassell while Hon. Neto Zazar Lighe will focus on Labor matters.

Meanwhile, the retreat will take an interactive trend for lawmakers to engage members of the Executive on each of the sectoral presentations. Liberia’s Vice President who is also President of the Senate, Joseph N. Boakai will also deliver the closing remarks.
