According to a report Matadi and Kromah had to foot their own bills following the Liberian government alleged refusal to sponsor the team.

Team Liberia to Rio 2016 Olympics is made of just two athletes, Emmanuel Matadi and Mariam Kromah who sponsored themselves to the Games.

Matadi is set to represent Liberia in Men’s 100m while Kromah will run in the Women’s 400 meters track and field race.

According to a report Matadi and Kromah had to foot their own bills following the Liberian government’s refusal to sponsor the team.

Chief of Mission of Liberia to Rio 2016, Dr. Malcom Joseph revealed that the government of Liberia did not provide a dime for the games. READ MORE OF THIS STORY
