Liberians in southeastern Liberia are said to be finding it difficult with one of the commercial banks operating in their areas due to its poor customers services, with customers saying whenever they went over to the bank to transact business their efforts are always fruitless .
Latest report from Maryland County say few years ago there were two branches of EcoBank in the County (Harper & Pleebo Branches), recently, according to the report the management of the Bank closed its Harper branch without prior notice to the local customers.
The closure of the Harper branch, according to our source also affected surroundings counties including River Gee and Grand Kru counties, a situation which has caused a serious embarrassment to many of the bank’s customers.
A customer of the bank who spoke to the GNN via mobile phone from Harper City in a rather frustrated state of mind, said since the closure of the Harper EcoBank branch they have been going through hell on a monthly basic to receive money from their account at the bank.
He said things went from bad to worst recently when services for the bank’s customers including photo copier machine, stapler machine, bathroom and the worst of all the malfunction of the bank’s ATM machine, situation he decried as on bearable.
He said the bank knowing very well that these things are not available; the bank recently aborted all services on Saturdays with a public notice saying. “There will be no banking on Saturdays please use your ATM cards.”
Concluding, our source said as a result of the closure of the Harper branch of EcoBank, residents in the city on a daily basis troop to Pleebo to either withdraw or have their checks encash, We in Harper City are catching hell in the hands of ECoBank staffers.
Effort by the GNN to contact the central office of the bank in Monrovia proved unsuccessful.
