River Gee Citizens Honor Dr. Dougbeh Nyan, As Honoree Assures Of Improved Health Services In The County

As the saying goes, “Give a man his flower while he is still alive in order to smell its fragrance” was over the weekend manifested  when citizens of River Gee County in their numbers bestowed honored on a son of the soil, the national orator of this year’s July 26 Independence Day Celebration Dr. Dougbeh Chris Nyan.

The citizens who converged in Clara Town, the suburb of Monrovia displaying their traditional colours backed with singing and other performances, poured praises on Dr. Nyan who they said has brought so much pride to his home County, River Gee and his native land Liberia over the years.

Pouring praises on the well learned Liberian Scientist, further recounted his numerous significances contributions to his County, including the supply of huge medical equipment during the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus brining relief to dozens of health workers who were on the frontlines in the County to curtail this situation.

Speaking on behalf of the citizens, the Chair of the Council of Elders and also former Development Superintendent of the County, Jackson Nyenpan said the honoring and appreciation program is intended to identify with Dr. Nyan for his level of work done over the years for his people, especially brining proud to the County and Liberia in general as the Country’s foremost scientist in the medical field has indeed brought pride to his country Liberia”, Nyenpan amidst thunderous applauds from the River Gee citizens noted.

Mr. Nyenpan speaking further said such a son of the county and Liberia deserves recognition for his countless contributions to the growth and development in the area of health sciences of the County and the people of Liberia in general. At the occasion, the honoree and his wife, Mrs. Lorine Nyan, a Togolese were graciously gowned.

Also in attendance were prominent River Gee Citizens including the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Liberia, Cllr. Fredrick Cheru, Senator Commany Wesseh and scores of citizens of River Gee and of other well-wishers were at the occasion to pay respect, and take a glance at this year 2017 Independence Day Orator.

For his part, the honoree in a brief remarks expressed thanks and appreciation to the citizens of River Gee, his home County for the honor and called on Liberians to work together for the growth and transformation of their Nation.

 Dr. Nyan speaking further said he of this conviction that if Liberians continue to work in the interest of the country and put aside their differences, there will always be what he called a long lasting peace, harmony, stability and unity in the country, also disclosed plans to undertake several projects in his home County, River Gee.

He pledged to help in the upgrading of the Fish Town Hospital by providing modern medical equipment that will help to improve the health facilities and poor health conditions of citizens in the county, promise construct a research center for the Jaikly Public school in Fish Town, River Gee County.
