(CNSNews.com) – Rep. GK Butterfield (D-N.C.), chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, said at a Capitol Hill press conference Friday that the suspects who killed five police officers in Dallas are terrorists.
“If someone goes in a building and assassinates five police officers, they are a terrorist by any definition. They are a terrorist, and they are not part of the Black Lives Matter movement. What their motivations were, the criminal justice system and law enforcement will figure that out,” Butterfield said.
Butterfield and other members of the Congressional Black Caucus denounced the shootings and expressed their sympathies for the police officers who were killed.
“We’ve said in our private meetings and public meetings that 99.9, 99.8 percent of police officers in this country are wonderful men and women who put on the uniform each day, and they serve, and they protect, and they defend us, and they defend our constituents in our communities,” he said.
