As UP Goes To Convention Thursday, Vice President Boakai Goes Unopposed

The national convention of the ruling Unity Party (UP) is expected to take place this Saturday, July 8, 2016 in Gbarnga, Bong County to elect new officials including the party’s political leader and Standard Bearer who will replace President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf whose time elapses come 2017.

Several partisans of the party who have declared their intention to contest for several positions including women Whig Chairlady, Youth Whig Chairperson, Secretary General and National Chairman have all been cleared by the party’s electoral committee.

The Vice President of Liberia who is also Vice Standard Bearer of the ruling Unity Party, Joseph N. Boakai  and the Secretary General of the UP, Wilmot Page have all been unopposed for the positions of Standard Bearer and National Chairman of the party respectively.
