The Tienii Magisterial Court in Tewor District, Grand Cape Mount County, has indicted Imam Sekou Sesay for the crime of persistent non-support to his blind wife and five children.
Imam Sesay was arrested on Tuesday by the court based upon a complaint filed by the uncle of the blind lady, Momo Massaquoi, that the Imam had abandoned the woman and her five children for three years.
According to the writ, several appeals made to Imam Sesay by the parents of the blind woman not to neglect the children and their mother proved fruitless.
Meanwhile, Associate Magistrate Archie Freeman has set the first hearing of the case for June 14.
At the same time, Imam Sesay has filed a criminal appearance bond which serves as a guarantee for him to appear in court for the case.
