Alleged militants shot by Saudi Arabian police following raid

uni1462535740{BNN / MECCA, Saudi Arabia}  – Saudi Arabian police reportedly shot down two alleged militants while two others blew themselves up during a raid on May 5.

According to a statement reportedly released by the Interior Ministry, the terrorists opened fire on forces, leading to retaliatory fire which killed two of the alleged militants as the other two killed themselves with explosive belts.

Reports state that security forces surrounded the suspects’ hideaway between Mecca and Taif mountain resort prior to the shootout, while a similar raid was conducted in the Red Sea city of Jeddah leading to the arrest of two people.

The Interior Ministry reportedly added that no civilians or security forces were killed or wounded in the encounter.

According to a security force spokesperson, “The security operation is still underway. Explosives are being removed and the area combed.”

Reports added that the raids were part of the ongoing probe into a failed car bombing in Bisha, southwestern Aseer, where two suspects were killed in a shootout that ensued.

Further, these attempted terror attacks were part of the many shootings and bombings aimed at security forces and Saudi Arabia’s Shi’ite Muslim minority since 2015. READ MORE
