LIBERIA: Chinese Firm Begins Pavement Of Gbarnga Streets

bomg(LINA) –East International, a Chinese construction firm, has begun Phase One of a US$5.9 million contract to pave 10.6 kilometers of streets in Gbarnga, Bong County.

Speaking to the Liberia News Agency in Gbarnga Monday, Bong County acting Superintendent Anthony Sheriff said the county administration in consultation with national government has initiated the process with an initial amount of US$1.5 million from the County Development Fund (CDF).

Sheriff explained that funding for the project was allocated in the CDF by delegates at the development council sitting in 2015.

He indicated that under the agreement, East International will pave the streets with cement, adding that the company has agreed to provide initial funding for the pavement of the roads.

The first phase is targeting the Gbarnga main street from the Star Entertainment Station to the One Plus One Gas Station on the Gbarnga-Ganta Highway and will include Collins Street linking Gbarbea Street and connecting the David Kuyoun Sport Stadium, the Presidential Palace, Bong Technical College, St. Peter’s Episcopal High School, Gbarnga Administration Building and Gbarnga School of Theology, Sheriff said.
