Liberian Leader submits two bills to Legislature

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has submitted two bills to the House of Representatives for consideration into law.

The instruments are the ‘Competition and the Foreign Trade Bills.

She said:” The Foreign Trade Law will boost Liberia’s commitment in achieving a vibrant trade market, job creation and promote self-employment for Liberians.”

The bills, if passed into law, will achieve Liberia’s obligation to the World Trade Organization (WTO). ”

In a communication to the House of Representatives, President Sirleaf said: “The enactment of the Competition Bill will retain and encourage an active and efficient free market economy for the promotion and facilitation of Liberia’s economic growth and development.”

The Liberian Leader’s communication to the House of Representatives was reads Tuesday, January 13, 2016.

Following the reading of the President’s communication, a motion was passed to forward it to the House Committees on Judiciary, Commerce and Foreign Relations to report within two weeks.
