As 2017 Elections Draw Closer, VP Boakai Pleads With Liberians For Opportunity To Serve Them

Vice President Joseph N. Boakai is urging Liberians to give him the opportunity to serve them by voting for him in the 2017 presidential and general elections.

Vice President Boakai said the Unity Party-led government has demonstrated high level of maturity in serving the Liberian people and restoring Liberia’s respect and dignity within the comity of nations.

The Liberian Vice President made the appeal at the weekend at a Christmas Home Coming and Appreciation Jamboree of the Unity Party (UP) held at the party’s headquarters in Congo Town, outside Monrovia.

“You do not try a racing car in the garage, you put it on the race track; that is where you find out whether the car can race or not; so give me a chance in 2017 to see another Unity Party president on the move,” he said.

He indicated that henceforth the branches of the Unity Party in the 15 political sub-divisions will be reactivated, noting that the Unity Party is on the forward move.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of Unity Party (UP), Cllr. Varney Sherman, says the party remains open to welcome those who have resigned from it because of constraints within the party.

Chairman Sherman assured partisans that he will remain a member of the UP no matter the situation, and promised to campaign in 2017 to ensure that the party wins the election in the first around.

He then urged Unity Party members to begin working hard to ensure that the party wins the 2017 polls.
