As Fighting Intensifies At Liberia/Ivorian Border, Liberian Refugees Seek UNHCR Assistance

Dozens of Liberian refugees fleeing fighting between Ivorian troops and rebels are appealing to the United Nations refugees agency, the UNHCR to quickly come to their rescue as the lack of food and other essential facilities are growing daily amongst them.

Speaking to this news outlet, a Liberian journalist, Bobby Addison who is currently touring the area along with Maryland County lawmaker, Bhofer Chamber, said dozens of refugees who have crossed over into Liberia are requesting t for urgent relief assistance.

Speaking from the Yobloken, a border town between Liberia and Ivory Coast in Maryland County, Liberian and some Ivorian refugees from the Ivorian town of Teneplue are finding it very difficult in getting relief services, and are therefore calling on the United Nations for assistance.
