The Liberia National Police (LNP) has found a cache of arms and ammunitions at the home of the former chairman of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), George Solo.
According to Police spokesman Sam Collins, the arms were found early Friday during a search authorized by a warrant issued by the Paynesville City Magistrate Court.
The items found include two revolver pistol rounds, two single barrel rounds, three pairs of scissors, two cutlasses, two pistols, one knife and two petrol bombs.
Collins told the Liberia News Agency in an interview Friday that it all started when a Liberian filed a complaint to the police against George Solo, accusing him of threatening his life on many occasions.
Collins indicated that the police verified to be true text messages from Solo threatening the complainant whose identity Collins failed to disclose.
The police spokesman explained that Solo refused to honor several invitations by the LNP for questioning, prompting the police to request the Paynesville City Magistrate Court to issue the search warrant, which was granted.
He said Solo himself was not at his residence during the search but three persons were arrested and are undergoing police investigation.
