Veteran journalist and Senior Reporter of the Liberia News Agency (LINA), Hilary Vasco Wiagbe, has died.
According to family sources, Mr. Wiagbe died at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital early Tuesdaymorning, after a brief illness.
Wiagbe, 50, accumulated more than 30 years of experience in active journalism in Liberia and served in various editorial capacities at several media institutions.
He started his journalism career at LINA in the early 1980s and worked there up to the outbreak of the civil conflict.
The late Wiagbe left LINA briefly to work for several media institutions, including Star Radio, Women Democracy Radio, In profile Daily newspaper, among others, and later rejoined LINA under its current rehabilitation project.
Meanwhile, scores of journalists and other sympathizers at home and abroad have inundated the social media with sentiments that reminiscence their professional and personal interactions with the late Wiagbe.
