The Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has applauded staff and employees of the institution for diligently working to surpass the 2014/2015 fiscal year revenue targetsapproved by the National Legislature.
A press release today said, In the 2014/15 Fiscal Budget, the LRA was mandated to raise US$635.23m, but the Authority, through its vigorous revenue enforcement programs, exceeded the amount by net US$8.22m, netting a total of US$643.46m.
Commissioner General Elfrieda Stewart Tamba said though the collection of revenue is not an easy task, the LRA can meet and surpass its annual targets when each and every staff of the Authority earnestly dedicate their daily assignments to achieving the overall revenue goal, mission and vision of the entity.
“I want to say a big thank you and congratulations to each and every employee and contractor of the LRA for working hard to exceed our revenue targets,” Mrs. Tamba told a general staff meeting and announced that each staff was entitled to a bonus for the fiscal period of 2014/2015.
The act creating the LRA provides for bonus to the Authority if it exceeds revenue targets set out in the national budget by the national Legislature. As a result,the LRA received a bonus of US$400,000 which has since been disbursed to all employees and contractors for the fiscal period.
Commissioner Tamba urged employees and staff of the entity to exert their efforts and energies in collecting all lawful revenues due the country as an excellent way of contributing to the development of their native land.
Meanwhile, the LRA has shared its bonus with other revenue generating ministries and agencies.
