Representative Fofi Sahr Baimba of Lofa County, District # 2 is dead.
According to family sources, he died over the weekend following a brief illness at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Monrovia.
The Chairman of the Lofa Legislative Caucus, Representative Moses Y. Kollie, made the disclosure to reporters over the weekend in Monrovia.
According to him, Representative Baimba was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital after a sudden illness that he could not name.
Quoting family sources, Rep. Kollie said the late Rep. Baima “had prepared his tea and told one of his boys to go and fuel his car to take him to the Jackson F. Doe Memorial Hospital in Tappita, Nimba County for check-up.”
According to Kollie, “in no time after giving the instruction to the boy, Baima fell out and was then rushed to the JFK Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.”
He said the bereaved family informed him earlier that Rep. Baimba was first rushed to a nearby clinic, but the clinic referred them to the SOS Clinic. At the SOS Clinic they were further referred to JFK Hospital where the lawmaker passed away.
The Lofa County Lawmaker described the late Baimba as the most senior lawmaker among the seven-member Lofa Legislative Caucus.
“Lofa has lost the greatest lawmaker and the Caucus will miss the most senior and a very bold and straightforward man,” Rep. Kollie said. “It is still like a dream and it came like a swift wind. We are deeply saddened by Rep. Baimba’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.”
He was a member of the ruling Unity Party, he was elected in 2012.
