Two Foreigners, Ivorian and Burkinabe Arrested For Illegally Farming On Liberia Land, As 200 Chased Out

A member of the Grand Gedeh Legislative Caucus, Representative Alex Grant of District #3 has disclosed that his citizens have arrested two foreigners, an Ivorian and a Burkinabe who were amongst over two hundreds of their kinsmen illegally occupying Grand Gedeh forest planting crops including rubber for the past years.

Representative Grant further disclosed that those arrested have been turned over to local security in the county for interrogation.

He said two hundred others including women and children have fled the forest after they learned about the arrest of the two.

Representative Grant over the past months has been complaining to the central government about the illegal occupancy of these in the forest doing farming.

Since the news broke out in the county about the illegal occupancy by foreigners on their land, security fears have gripped residents of the county pondering over their presence in the forests.

Up to date the Liberian Government has not issue any statement relating to this development in the southeast of the country.
