The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has disclosed the arrest of a Guinean truck loaded with essential medical drugs and other assorted items from the National Drug Service (NDS) intended for smuggling to Guinea.
According to DEA Director General Anthony Souh, the Guinean truck with foreign license plate number 7596-J was arrested at the Old Plank Field opposite the National Port Authority with 146 cartons of pharmaceutical supplies.
Director Souh made the disclosure at the weekend at a press conference held at the DEA headquarters in Fiamah, a suburb of Monrovia.
He regretted that while the Liberian Government is fighting corruption, some criminally-minded individuals continue to engage in corrupt practices with adverse consequences for the nation’s health sector.
Meanwhile, Director Souh has disclosed that the DEA is collaborating with the Liberia Medicine and Health Products Regulatory Authority (LMHRA), NDS and the Ministry of Health to investigate the matter.
