The Grand Mufti of the Gurley Street Mosque has called on Muslims to be tolerant of other Liberians in order to build a peaceful nation.
Sheihk Abubakar Sumaworo stated that Islam is a religion that seeks peaceful co-existence with other religions and peoples around the world; and therefore urged Liberian Muslims to emulate the good practices of Islam and desist from violence.
Sheihk Sumaworo made the appeal Friday at the Gurley Street Mosque at a prayer ceremony marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
He stressed that Liberian Muslims should remain peaceful and to refrain from violence, especially young Muslims who are educated.
He indicated that there are now more than one million Muslims in Liberia who should be united and work together in building capacity and directing the young Muslims to set a good example in society.
Sheihk Somaworo emphasized that if Liberia should move forward in its developmental drive, all citizens should be united with one purpose and objective to transform the country.
