Firestone Challenged To Produce Rubber Products In Liberia

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has called on the Management of Firestone Natural Rubber Company to be more vigilant and begin taking steps to produce gloves and other rubber products here in Liberia.
She noted that when this is done, it will expand economic activities and create more jobs in the private sector to improve the lives of Liberians.
According to an Executive Mansion release, the Liberian leader made the assertion following a tour of the Hevea Wood Operation Factory situated at Division No. 16 on Wednesday, July 1.
The visit was to acquaint herself with activities at the Firestone Company in lower Margibi County.
President Sirleaf applauded the Company and expressed satisfaction for its significant contribution to Liberia’s economic recovery efforts, adding, “This is very impressive.”  
She also lauded Firestone Natural Rubber Company for the meaningful contributions made to the rubber industry.
In 1926, the company opened one of the world's biggest rubber plantations in Liberia, West Africa, spanning more than 1 million acres.
