Preparations are underway for the rehabilitation of a 15 kilometer road linking Voinjama and Quardu Gboni Districts.
Making the disclosure to a group of John Town citizens Saturday, Zogolemai Township Commissioner Peter Paywala said SSF Construction Company has been contracted to carry out the rehabilitation work on the John Town road that links Zogolemai Township in Voinjama district to Bulur and Tusu towns in Quardou Gboni district.
Commissioner Paywala disclosed that the rehabilitation work on the 15 kilometer John town-Bulur-Tusu road is expected to start on Monday June 8, and that when completed it will help boost economic activities in the two districts.
Commissioner Paywala pointed out that the road is in deplorable condition as a result of the heavy downpour of rain for the past ten years. He said this has created serious economic setbacks for citizens of these areas.
Meanwhile, Mr. Paywala has thanked the youth who constitute majority of the future work force and the entire citizenry of John town for their pledge to provide the workforce for implementation of the project.
He used the occasion to urge youths of the area to do away with vices that have the propensity to undermine their future, and continue to contribute their quota to development programs that could positively impact on their lives.
Commissioner Paywala also challenged youth of the area to live responsible lives worthy emulations if they must succeed in their future endeavors.
Mr. Paywala did not state the total cost of the rehabilitation work, but disclosed that youth in the area have agreed to provide manpower for the project, while ordinary citizens will provide food to feed the workers.
