USAID FED has developed Liberia’s first National Diploma in Agriculture (NDA) program to support its growing agriculture sector.
The program seeks to establish centers of excellence in vocational agricultural education at the Booker Washington Institute (BWI) as well as the Nimba, Lofa and Grand Bassa County Community Colleges.
According to USAID FED Chief of Party Agnes Luz, the NDA Curriculum rolls out complete syllabi and lesson plans for all courses.
She noted that the newly introduced program which falls under component three of the USAID Fed program in Liberia includes libraries outfitted with references supporting materials, science and soil laboratory constructed and equipped as well as technicians and instructors trained in laboratory equipment usage.
Making a presentation at a press roundtable Wednesday at the Mamba Point Hotel in Monrovia, Madam Luz further indicated that the program has established agricultural enterprises and stressed the need for the formulation of advisory committees to promote private sector participation.
Meanwhile, USAID FED has provided IT equipment including computers to partners for the enhancement of the NDA program.
