The Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia has jailed a 43 year-old Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) soldier at the Monrovia Central Prison on charges of murdering a motorcyclist in April 2015.
Defendant Winn K. Gansee was on April16 arrested by the Liberia National Police (LNP) based on a call by a resident of the community alleging that the defendant had killed a motorcyclist identified as Nelson Cuput with a piece of plank.
The police charge sheet indicated that the victim was leaving a shop when he met the defendant and asked him whether he wanted to ride on his motorbike.
However, when an approaching vehicle flashed its light on them, he noticed that the defendant had blood stains and bruises all over his body.
The police charge sheet said when the victim told the defendant that he could not carry him because of the blood stain, he got angry, pulled out a long flash light and hit the victim on the head.
When the victim fell near a market table as he tried to escape, defendant Gansee took a piece of plank from nearby and hit him on the head, rendering him unconscious.
The police charge sheet noted that after the incident, defendant Gansee tried to escape on the motorbike of another AFL soldier but was blocked by the by- standers.
Defendant Gansee is currently detained awaiting court trial.
