LIBERIA: Bassa Women Development Association Signs US$15,000.00 Contract With American-Jewish Service

The Bassa Women Development Association (BAWODA) has signed a four-month ‘Ebola and Measles Prevention Training’ contract with the American-Jewish World Service (AJWS).
Making the disclosure to the Liberia News Agency in Buchanan Thursday, BAWODA Executive Director Martha Flanjay Karnga said the training is geared towards building the capacity of citizens on how to prevent Ebola, Measles and other diseases.
Karnga told LINA that following the signing of the contract, BAWODA organized a four-day Ebola Prevention workshop for 125 participants from across the county from May 4-7.
She noted that the facilitators included nurses from the Catholic Health Center and the Liberia Government Hospital in Buchanan.
Of the total number of participants, 75 were women from Edina, St. John River and zone leaders from around the city of Buchanan while the balance 50 included religious leaders from both the Christian and Muslim communities.
Karnga also disclosed that AJWS has been supporting BAWODA for the past four years.
“During the height of the Ebola crisis, AJWS gave us over 400 buckets, chlorine and detergents to distribute among the people of Bassa to prevention the virus,” she noted.
