Dozens of rioters today set ablaze a police station in the suburb of Paynesville following the brutal killing of a motorcyclist by an officer of the Liberia National Police yesterday after.
According to a Liberian journalist who resides in the area, many of the rioters were seen blocking the main road leading to the Redlight district as many police at the depot ran for their lives.
This situation made hundreds of residents in the area to flee for their lives, while LNP officers who were on duty at their various posts of assignment ran for their lives as motorcyclists went after them.
Day after this incident, a member of the Armed Forces of Liberia also killed another motorcyclist in the same Paynesville district. The name of the AFL officer was not also disclosed.
Authority at the Ministry of National Defense said it welcomed the decision to put on trial the soldier for his alleged involvement in the murder of the motorcyclist.
