As Liberia Struggles To Get Back On Track Its Economy, Gov’t Has Sold OFF valuable Oil Assets -Global Witness

As Liberian leader, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf continuing her state visit in the United States, meeting with stakeholders and U.S. Government officials including President Barack Obama speaking of how to tackle the deadly Ebola virus which has taken thousands of lives, Global Witness has revealed on its website that the government has sold off valuable oil assets in what appears to be a very bad deal for Liberia.

The International watch dog said, a major oil contract, offshore Block 16, was recently handed to a coalition of three companies. One of these appears to lack sufficient funds to operate the oil block, and another has close links to some of Liberia’s worst tax dodgers. READ MORE OF THIS STORY
