LIBERIA: L$1,977.2m GOL T-bills Issued In 2014, says CBL

The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) issued a total of L$1,977.2 million of the Government of Liberia (GOL) Treasury Bills (T-bills) with a complementary redemption totalling L$1,132.4 million in 2014.
This was contained in the CBL Annual Report covering the period January 1 to December 31, 2014.
According to the report, the total value of the bids received was L$2,626.7 million an over-subscription of L$666.7 million, signifying excess liquidity in the banking system.
The report stated that in an effort to measure institutional investor’s appetite and confidence in the GOL T-bills program, a one-year Treasury Bond or T-Bond was issued in the amount of L$500.0 million.
The weighted average yield was 6.85 percent, the report indicated, adding that for the period under review, the weighted average discount rate for the GOL T-bills, which indicates the cost of borrowing, remained steadily around 4.0 percent.
