Liberian Leader Declares That Citizens Wear ‘Made In Liberia’ Clothing Every Friday

Delivering her annual message on the state of the Country Monday, January 26, 2015, where she touched on progress being made by her Government during the year in review, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has declared that all Liberians must wear ‘Made In Liberia’ Clothing every Friday.

She said this will help to promote products made in Liberia worldwide, noting, “I ask everyone to join in promoting the “Wear Your Pride campaign” that would require all government employees to wear at least once a week preferably Friday,” President Sirleaf said as she received a thunderous applause from the audience.

Liberians who spoke to GNN expressed support to the President’s declaration, and said it is overdue, noting, “Liberians always favor western made clothing instead of theirs, we highly appreciate our own thing,” Annie Johnson, a petty trader in a chat with our reporter said.

This declaration by the Liberian leader calling on Liberians to wear ‘Made In Liberia’ clothing if accepted will help and boost the services of those in this sector.
