Mother of Japanese Hostage Begs for His Release

The mother of Japanese national Kenji Goto, a journalist being held captive by Islamic State extremists, made a plea for his release on Wednesday as a deadline for his execution approached. Junko Ishido, Goto's mother, read out a statement at a news conference on Wednesday, pleading with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to "do everything in your power" to obtain her son's release.
