FUGITIVE: BC publisher on the run

 Amado Lugtu, the erstwhile publisher of Mabuhay News failed to appear for a hearing at B.C. Provincial court on Nov. 21, prompting the bench warrant for his arrest.
Lugtu has been charged for defrauding the Asian Canadian Writers’ Workshop (ACWW) while he was its treasurer in Dec. 2010. ACWW publishes the Asian quarterly literary magazine, Ricepaper. Lugtu’s first appearance was on July 3 and has been postponed several times. Each time he (Lugtu) promised to come back with a lawyer.
