Liberia has been the worst-hit country in the recent Ebola virus outbreak. The country’s leaders are now looking for more international help to fight the virus.
In a webcam speech to the audience at Harvard University on Tuesday, Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said she expected the Ebola crisis gripping her country to worsen in the coming weeks. She also said that worsening situation is a result of inadequate supplies, lack of outside support, and a population gripped in fear.
On the same day, the country’s defense minister Brownie Samukai also told UN Security Council that Liberia’s health system was already overwhelmed by the number of Ebola cases, stating that the Ebola outbreak "threatens Liberia’s national existence".
