Cameroonian footballer killed by his own fans after being hit by missile thrown onto the pitch after his side lost a home match

A football player has died of a head injury after being hit by a rock apparently thrown by his own fans at a top-flight league game in Algeria. A police investigation has been opened into the death of Albert Ebosse, a striker from Cameroon who died in hospital on Saturday night after succumbing to a head injury. He was hit by the rock as players left the field following a 2-1 loss for his club, JS Kabylie.
