LIBERIA: On Arrest Issue, Daniel Chea Breaks Silence Noting “I was Never Arrested”

The former Liberian National Defense Minister under the Charles Taylor led Government, Daniel Chea has finally broken silence that he was never  arrested as being rumored in Monrovia and its environs, noting that he is going about his normal business.

Speaking to the GNN via mobile phone from the Port City of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, the former Liberian Defense Minister said the news of his arrest was untrue, stressing, “I have never been ordered arrested as being speculated in Monrovia. I am well and kicking doing my private business,” Mr. Chea told the GNN via mobile phone from Buchanan.

He said his visit to the United States recently was also rumored that he was arrested while on his U.S. private, noting, “Again I was never arrested as was being reported in the local media”, he told this network during the interview.

The arrest of the former Liberian cabinet minister early today was rumored in Monrovia that he was early Thursday morning arrested by state security and taken to an unknown location.

Following this information GNN made several unsuccessful attempts to get him on his mobile phone.
