The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has officially closed its field office in Voinjama District, Lofa County.
A ceremony marking the closure brought together government officials, partners, citizens and beneficiaries from across Lofa County at the William V. S. Tubman County Hall in the provincial capital Voinjama.
Speaking at the occasion, the Councilor at the Swiss Embassy in Liberia, Fredrich Senimech, encouraged farmers to engage in lowland farming.
He said this will help to preserve the forest and prevent deforestation.
According to the Liberia News Agency, the beneficiaries thanked the SDC for the training it provided them and promised to utilize the knowledge acquired from the SDC trainings.
For his part, Lofa County Superintendent George Dunor lauded the SDC family for its good work in the county over the years.
Dunor then called on Lofians to take responsibility for their own learning, noting that donors will not always be there to provide training opportunities
He then urged them to utilize the knowledge they have acquired during the training and encouraged other communities that were not opportune to receive the training to learn from those already trained.
The Swiss Development Agencywas involved in training farmers to get involved in lowland farming and has been operating in Nimba, Bong and Lofa counties.
