LIBERIA: Sime Darby Agree Expansion of Plantation

Superintendent Samuel Brown has disclosed that Sime Darby Company and Bomi County have reached an agreement to allow the company to expand its operations to Senjeh District in the county.

Superintendent Brown said all modalities have been concluded and the company has completed the counting of residents' crops in the district for compensation.

Speaking in an interview with the Liberia News Agency on Monday in Tubmanburg, Superintendent Brown said the company has been given 10,000 hectares, which is equivalent to over 2,000 acres of land.

He said following the consummation of this agreement, another arrangement is on the way to allow the company to expand deeper into the district in Sackie Town on the border between Grand Cape Mount and Bomi counties.

Superintendent Brown said the company will spend over US$200,000 as payment for the crops to be affected by the expansion.

Superintendent Brown said he was satisfied with the current operations of the company in Gbar, Klay District, Bomi County.
