LIBERIA: Buchanan Port Dedicates Facilities Soon

The Manager of the Port of Buchanan, Patrick Konneh, has disclosed that two security guard posts, a canteen and port user’s conference hall, will be  shortly dedicated at the port in Buchanan, in Grand Bassa County.

Making the disclosure to the Liberia News Agency Wednesday at his office, Mr. Konneh said funding for the projects was made available by the Board of Directors, through the Managing Director of the National Port Authority, Matilda Parker.

He praised NPA boss Parker for constantly seeking to ensure up-to-date facilities at all ports being administered by NPA.

He said on April 29 this year, a contingent of American Coast Guard toured the facilities of the port with regards to its safety.

Konneh said at the end of the tour, with the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code in place at level one, the American Coast Guard was “very pleased with measures being put in place at the port.”

The International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS) serves as a guarantee to shippers and ship owners.
