KAKATA, May 4 (LINA) – Pavement of the 33-kilometer road linking Kakata City to Bong Mines in Fuamah District, lower Bong County, is nearing completion.
Speaking in an interview the Liberia News Agency in Kakata at the weekend, the Resident Public Works Engineer of Margibi County, Sylvester Zoker, said the road project is 90 percent complete with just about 2.2 kilometers left and some culvert work to be done.
The road is being built by China Union, under the Mineral Development Agreement (MDA) it signed with the Liberian Government in 2009 to mine iron ore for 25 years in the Bong Range.
According to section 6.6 C of the MDA, “the concessionaire shall renovate, extend and build the Kakata to Hyendi road in accordance with modified bid materials.
Mr. Zoker indicated that work on the 10-kilometer Bong Mines-Hyendi road was ongoing, but he was finding it difficult to interpret the blueprint as all of the narratives were written in Chinese.
