The Comptroller in the office of Montserrado County Superintendent says Finance Ministry cannot give account for US$6 Million for the County Development Funds (CDF), which has stalled development in the county.
But the Ministry of Finance when contacted refused to comment on the issue, a situation that has drawn the attention of the public as to the facts of the matter.
According to the Catalyst Newspaper, quoting the Comptroller of the County, Mr. Christian Brownell, said the County had 36 projects on books, majority of which could be executed due to the problem, stressing, “The Ministry of Finance has a big problem with the social and county development money.”
Although he did not mention the problem surrounding the Ministry of Finance’s inability to account for said amount, he stressed that those companies operating in the county had contributed significantly to the social development fund for the budget period 2013/2014.
According to him since he took over as Comptroller he has only received US$600,000.00 on behalf of the County Superintend, Madam Florence Brandy for administrative purposes.
