LIBERIA: Bomi Community College Prexy Credentials ‘Questioned

The committee investigating the president of the Bomi County Community College (BCCC), Dr. Samuel Momweh,  has described as ‘questionable’ the credentials Dr. Momweh claimed he acquired from a university in the United States.

The Commission on Higher Education had accused Dr. Momweh of presenting fake credentials in a bid to get the job.

The investigative committee, chaired by Bomi County Education Officer, Mr. Seo Davis, said its probe found the BCCC president liable and recommended that the Commission on Higher Education take appropriate actions against Dr. Momweh in keeping with government’s education policy.

The committee in its report presented January 22 further recommended that the commission prevails on the County administration and Legislative Caucus to speedily implement Article 5, Section One of the Act of the college which calls for the appointment of the President of the college based on the recommendation of the Board to the President of Liberia.

But, when the Liberia News Agency contacted Dr. Samuel Momweh, he vowed not to resign his post as president of the college, despite the recommendations of the committee that investigated him.

Dr. Momweh threatened legal action against those, he said, were “behind the conspiracy to damage his reputation” by questioning his credentials.

He named Bomi County Superintendent Samuel Brown, the Commission on Higher Education and the local news media as those who will face his legal wrath.

He said the legal action will be necessary to serve as a deterrent to others from engaging in such act of calumny against any president of the college.

Dr. Momweh insisted that his credentials were genuine and credible.

When contacted, Superintendent Samuel Brown denied ever conspiring against Dr. Momweh, noting that he neither brought any case against Dr. Momweh, nor did he investigate him.

Superintendent Brown said it is the Commission on Higher Education that raised the issue with Dr. Momweh
