Ex-Rebel General Launches Crusade, Opts Peace In Lofa County
“We must now come together to build the country we helped to destroyed during the past fifteen years, and make it a peaceful place to live,” words of Amara Siryon alias ‘Master General” who claimed that he joined the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) in the late 1970s, and helped to trained Prince Johnson who is now Nimba County Senator said he is spearheading a crusade to bring the Mandingoes and Lornas together in order to live peacefully told the GNN in Lofa County recently.
‘Master General’ who said he fought for the defunct ULIMO during the Liberian civil war, also disclosed that his objective to launching this peace crusade is in line with the love and passion he has for his beloved country, Liberia.
During the interview, ‘Master General’ who spoke highly of the deplorable state of condition of roads in the county, and called on the central Government to listen to the plight of the people in the county and speedily commence the rehabilitation of these damaged roads, adding, “We are over with the war, let reconstruction start now for everyone to be happy.”
He urged the Liberian Government to focus their attention on building bridges of peace and reconciliation throughout the country, and divorce itself to those ugly vices that will divide the country and thrust it into another state of anarchy where Liberians will again have to run for their lives.
Master General is always admired by people who meet him for the first, his detailed information about situation in the county was reliably given.
Dressed in a dark brown T-Shirt and a pair of jean trousere with over ten rings in all his fingers, he was always down to earth, given facts of the days of the war in that county where many of the fighters in ULIMO-K were all Mandingoes.
Meanwhile, the former ULIMO-K Commander called on his fellow kinsmen to embrace his initiative of helping to bring the people of Lofa County together in order to build a vibrant county for everyone to appreciate.
Lofa County during the war was the stronghold of ULIMO-K, rebel armed faction mainly grouped Mandingoes.
