Issa Sesay Says He Did Not Know Taylor Wanted To Kill Him
As prosecutors concluded his cross-examination today, Issa Hassan Sesay, the convicted former interim leader of Sierra Leone’s main rebel group told Special Court for Sierra Leone judges in The Hague that he did not know and does not believe that Charles Taylor sent men to kill him while he was trying to disarm rebel forces in Sierra Leone.

The LMC, started in the wake of the second Liberian civil war’s conclusion in 2004 as a project of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) and the Partnership for Conflict Prevention in West Africa. The center was conceived as a means of providing the Liberian media landscape with the requisite tools and environment to cope with the changed circumstances it was faced with at the time.

The Chairman of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Liberia (TRC), Counselor Jerome J. Verdier, Sr commends the President of Liberia, H.E. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for withdrawing the nomination of two prominent figures of the Independent Human Rights Commission.
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Thursday, August 26, convened a meeting between Mrs. Nancy Doe, widow of the late President Samuel Kanyon Doe, and Mrs. Tarlor Quiwonkpa, widow of the late Brigadier-General Thomas G. Quiwonkpa, former Commanding General of the Armed Forces of Liberia and member of the erstwhile People’s Redemption Council.
