Mr. Emmanuel Sayonkon, an journalist and employee in public affairs section of the National Defense Ministry is awaiting court trial for alleged raped and impregnating his own biological daughter.
But the accused has since denied the allegation despite his admission of taken the girl to a clinic where the pregnancy was aborted sometimes late last year.
Police spokesman Moses Carter who confirmed the report to the media said the journalist will be arraigned before the court for prosecution any moment.
However, information gathered speak to how the reporter first abused his owned daughter and impregnated her from November 2019 until July, 2020 when it became known.
According to family sources, when the accused wife died some years back the family mainly the aunt took the girl always, but surprisingly, Sayonkon went for her with the understanding of sending her to school.
It was during the course of one night at their residence in Paynesville, while asleep when he walked into the girl’s room put her at knife point with the intent to kill her if she told anybody because of fear she consented.
It continued until the girl became impregnated in July 2020 but managed by having the pregnancy aborted at a local clinic but that did not stop, as the accused decided to continue his old habit this year’s January.
However, because of fear of getting impregnated by her father again the girl reported the matter to her aunt who in returned wrote a formal complaint against Sayonkon to the Minister of National Defense, Daniel Zainkhan.
Based on that the accused was arrested at his place of work, and since then has been spending nights in the cell at the central headquarters of the police waiting to be sent to court.
The accused once worked with the Roman Catholic’s Radio Veritas as a reporter for several years. Before then, he was 1990 recruit of the Liberian army but demobilized and retained at the Defense Ministry following the restructured exercise.
