As Liberians Complain Of ‘Three Days Cancelation’ By GSM Mobile Companies, Watchdog Clarifies

Mr. Israel Akinsayeh

Following mixed reactions from GSM users nationwide on the cutoff of the three days free calls services by GSM companies in Liberia, the Telecommunications Authority (LTA) which the regulator of all GSM companies operating in the country has clarified that at no time did it order all GSM Companies operating in Liberia to cancel the three-day free call.

The LTA Commissioner on Governance, Israel Akinsayeh, made the clarification Friday, September 6, 2019, in an ELBC radio interview.

According to Mr.Akisayeh, the LTA announced the implementation of floor prices on September 1, 2019, in line with its statutory mandate, which protects the interest of all stakeholders, users, the Liberian Government and venders.

Mr. Akinsayeh said:” The law provides that subscribers cannot do promotion for more than ninety days, and venders cannot sell below the cost of the promotion.”
