Illegal fishing and Liberia’s battle to save the sea

Illegal fishing is a huge problem in West Africa. Seven million people live along the coast and the sea is their livelihood.

This source of income is in jeopardy. Industrial fishing fleets from Europe and China and are ravaging coastal fish stocks. Liberia’s government has been working with Sea Shepherd for two years to try and stop illegal fishing.
