Flash Back: Man Handcuffed

ROBERTSPORT CITY, April 17 (LINA) – Police in Grand Cape Mount County have arrested a laboratory technician at the Sinje Health Center for allegedly raping a 17 year-old girl.

According to the victim, she had carried food to her ailing uncle who is admitted at the health facility, when she met the lab technician Jerry James.

She said upon seeing her, James asked why her body was continuing to decline, and she responded saying she was not well and that she was a breastfeeding mother.

The victim said after her response, James asked her to do a lab test to know what is happening to her and so she agreed and followed James to the laboratory.

The victim (name withheld) said when she arrived in the laboratory, James did her test and told her that she had an infection and needed to pay L$1,000 for treatment.

The victim said she told him that she had no money even for food, let alone medication, and therefore could not meet his demand.

She said while they were talking, the lab technician brought another syringe and asked her to show her hand, and injected some fluid into her system.

She said after that she became unconscious and was not aware of what was happening around her.

The victim further narrated that after few hours she realized that she was naked and lying on one of the hospital beds in the laboratory.

She also explained that even after recognizing that she was naked, she was still so weak to move her body.

She said after the lab technician was finished he took her home and told her parents that he saw her drunk along the road and decided to bring her home.

The victim said after she regained consciousness, she narrated the entire story to her parents who then alerted the police at the Sinje Checkpoint.

The police then launched a search for the suspect  and arrested him in a nearby town in the county.

Meanwhile, James has denied any wrongdoing and has been remanded at the Tienii Withholding Cell pending appearance before the Madina Magisterial Court.
