Mother Victoria B. Young, the first Liberian to establish an orphanage home, the Fatima Cottage, in Liberia in the 1970’s that brought together dozens of orphans from around the country is dead.
According to family sources, ‘Mother Young’ as she was affectionately called died on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at her Chocolate City residence in Gardnerville after a brief illness.
Mother Young will forever be remembered by hundreds of Liberians who witnessed her kindness during the Liberian civil war when many fled from their homes to seek refuge at her orphanage home where orphans were kept, fed and tutored in receiving higher education.
