China Puts Two Saudi Satellites into Orbit

Beijing, Dec 7 (Prensa Latina) China has successfully put into orbit two Saudi Arabia”s satellites from a center set up for this purpose in the northwestern Gobi desert in Jiuquan prefecture.

SaudiSat 5A and SauditSat 5B were designed by the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, as part of its program aimed at stimulating research and with the aim of capturing images from the Earth.

Each weighs 425 kilograms and has high-resolution multispectral cameras to allow them fulfill its functions.

Both devices were put into orbit on Friday noon with a Long March 2D carrier rocket, which carried out 292 similar missions before.

Apart from the Saudi satellites, another 10 teams developed by China’s institutes also traveled to space.
