The Ladies in Tech are expected today to hold a daylong session which will be dedicated to providing and supporting Liberian women and girls who are interested in technology, that currently have no access to skills training or materials.
The theme, “Breaking the barriers for ladies in technology” takes place at the Murex Plaza in Sinkor featuring several prominent women who will serve as panelists including Lofa County Representative Mariamu B. Fofana, Mrs. Mai Urey, the Chief Executive Officer of Wulki Farm and U Foundation, Mrs. Maria Harrison, the CEO of MTN and a representative of Mercy Corp will be on a panel discussing their experiences and providing guidance on Women’s Involvement in Liberia’s Technology Sector. Close to 100 girls are registered to attend.
Ladies In Tech is a subset created to aid Women Techmakers in supporting and motivating young ladies interested in technology, that currently have no skills or access to training opportunities and materials in Liberia. As a part of our ongoing celebration of female empowerment in technology, this will be our second edition dedicated to providing information, opportunities and helping ladies build their confidence in technology in Liberia.
Ladies in Tech strives to become a change maker; to provide the support and training that will help these ladies move from tech zeroes to tech heroes. Further, this event will connect ladies to actual Liberian female techmakers in the industry who will help them understand and see firsthand the possibilities of growth and success in their interested area.
In an effort to combat gender inequalities in technology, we hope to address challenges and steer up interest in the next generation of Women in technology, especially in the new age of Mobile and Web Development.
