President Sirleaf and Senator George Weah breaking ground

Liberians at home and abroad went into oblivion as the outgoing President of the Republic of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Montserrado County Senator and standard-bearer of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), George Manneh Weah jointly broke ground for the Gbarnga-Medicoma Road.

The Liberian leader has been heavily accused by members of her governing Unity Party (UP) and the public of supporting Senator Weah in the 2017 elections leaving her long-time friend and Vice President Joseph Nyuma Boakai who is now the standard-bearer of the party in the wilderness.

What remains shocking to many Liberians and other partners to the country is that Senator Weah who is a sitting Senator in Montserrado County was seen breaking the ground with the Liberian chief executive.

Besides being a Senator of Montserrado County, Liberians wondered why Weah who is not even member of the local government of both Lofa and Bong Counties jointly broke ground with the President.

They further recounted that Vice President Joseph Boakai and standard-bearer of Unity Party is from Lofa, Both caucuses of Lofa and Bong were absent among others. On social media Thursday went viral when photos of the ceremony surfaced on facebook.

Both Ellen and Weah breaking ground in Bong Cpunty

Some are calling on the office of Madam President to explain why VP Boakai was left out of the ground-breaking ceremony despite his advocacy and diligent service to the Unity Party.

Others also wondered why the caucuses of Bong and Lofa counties did not found part of the ground breaking.
Some citizens also believed that the action by Madam President is a sign of what they referred to as disunity.
According to them, it was important for VP Boakai to attend the program due to the fact that he comes from Lofa instead of Senator George Weah of Montserrado County.

Here are the comments from Liberians on social media (facebook): Riscks Kollie: “where Lofa county senator.
